Rabun County High
is an AP honor school
Rabun County High School is once
again to be commended. The school has been named one of about 80
Advanced Placement Honor Schools. Georgia Superintendent of Schools
Kathy Cox made the announcement in February 2009.
RCHS' honor comes in the category of AP Challenge Schools; those with
fewer than 900 students that are offering AP classes in the four core
areas of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Rabun Schools' Superintendent Matt Arthur told Rabun Board of Education
members at February Board Meeting that teachers in all grades contribute
to preparing students for AP success in later years. "The thing about
getting students prepared for AP classes- it takes that starting earlier
in elementary school ED and getting those students ready for those AP
classes as they get up (into high school) and it has been with teachers
at all levels working together," said Arthur. "And it's good to see."
The College Board administers advanced placement classes. Students who
achieve high scores on AP exams may qualify for college credit. Story from
